Team Composition and Player Selection: Each TGL team consists of four players, with only three players competing in each match. Before each match, the two competing teams will select three competitors.
Match Format: Each TGL match is played across 15 custom-designed holes, divided into two segments: Triples (Holes 1-9) and Singles (Holes 10-15). The Triples segment features three players on each team competing in an alternate shot format, with teams determining the order of play before the match. In the Singles segment, each player plays two holes head-to-head against one player from the opposing team, rotating after each completed hole.
Scoring System: Each hole is worth one point, and the team with the fewest shots on a hole wins the point. If a match ends in a tie after all 15 holes, it goes to Overtime, a best-of-three, closest-to-the-pin competition. A team wins Overtime by hitting two shots closer to the pin than their opponents.
The Hammer: At any point during play, a team can throw "The Hammer" to increase the value of a hole by one point. If the opposing team declines to accept The Hammer, they forfeit the hole. Each team has three Hammers to use at their discretion during the match, but only once per hole.
Shot Clock: TGL has a shot clock, with each player having 40 seconds to hit their shot. Failure to do so results in a one-stroke penalty. Each team also has four timeouts per match, two per session, to pause the shot clock.
