The Shootout

The tournament is played at various golf courses within the chapter region, and players have 18 opportunities to win "Closest to the Pin" prizes. It is a fast-moving 2.5-hour contest, where a birdie putt or a birdie chip is all that's needed to win, as every player makes par. The tournament concludes with a thrilling $1000 Putting Contest, providing an extra incentive for players to "Go for the Green!".

In addition to The Shootout, Challenge Golf also hosts other events such as the Challenge Cup, a one-day member-guest select-shot golf tournament held each spring and fall. There is also the CGA Players Club, which offers exclusive discounts to golf courses, shopping, dining, and entertainment with a small monthly donation, with proceeds going towards helping those in need.

The Challenge Tour

Up to 1993, the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results. However, since 1994, it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Twenty players earn direct promotion to the European Tour, and players who win three Challenge Tour events in a season are fast-tracked onto the main tour immediately and are fully exempt the following season.

Players finishing 21st to 45th may also gain qualification for low-prize-money European Tour events and can improve their status through European Tour Qualifying School. Official World Golf Ranking points are awarded for high finishes in Challenge Tour events.

The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe, operated by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 when the national tours of Sweden, France, and Italy were opened up to foreign players. It was initially called the Satellite Tour and was renamed the Challenge Tour in 1990.

Players who are successful on the Challenge Tour can qualify for membership of the European Tour the following year. Twenty players who finish in the top 20 on the Order of Merit gain direct promotion to the European Tour, and players finishing 21-45 may qualify for low-prize-money European Tour events. Players can improve their status through the European Tour Qualifying School.
