What You'll Learn

The Masters Tournament
There are a number of criteria by which invitations are awarded, including all past winners, recent major champions, leading finishers in the previous year's majors, leading players on the PGA Tour in the previous season, winners of full-point tournaments on the PGA Tour during the previous 12 months, leading players in the Official World Golf Ranking, and some leading amateurs. There were 21 first-time Masters competitors in 2025.
Rory McIlroy won the 2025 tournament after the first hole of a sudden-death playoff against Justin Rose. This win made McIlroy the sixth player, and the first European, to complete the modern career Grand Slam. Additionally, McIlroy became the third player, after Tiger Woods in 2001 and Scottie Scheffler in 2024, to win the Masters and The Players Championship in the same calendar year.
Some notable players who missed the cut include two-time champion Bernhard Langer, five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, 2020 champion Dustin Johnson, three-time champion Phil Mickelson, and 2017 champion Sergio García.

PGA Championship
The 2025 PGA Championship was the 107th edition of the tournament and the second of the men's four major golf championships held that year. It was hosted at the iconic Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from May 15–18, marking the second time the club has hosted the tournament, the first being in 2017.
The tournament witnessed a thrilling contest, with world number one Scottie Scheffler claiming his first PGA Championship and third major title. Scheffler's exceptional performance culminated in a five-stroke victory over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, and Davis Riley. DeChambeau, the two-time major champion and 2024 PGA Championship runner-up, led after 15 holes but dropped shots in the closing stretch, finishing second.
The competition saw several notable performances and surprises. Jhonattan Vegas made history as the first Venezuelan golfer to hold a lead at a major after 36 holes, shooting a one-under-par 70. Max Homa and Kim Si-Woo also impressed with the lowest rounds of the day, both shooting 64. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, and Sepp Straka, the winner at the Truist Championship the week before, missed the cut.
The PGA Championship is one of professional golf's most prestigious events, attracting a strong field of competitors. The 2025 edition, with its dramatic moments and Scheffler's dominant victory, added another memorable chapter to the tournament's rich history.

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be the first time that Team Europe will select players from a single Ryder Cup points list, instead of the previous two. Major Championships will have up to five times as many points as other PGA and DP World tour events, with 5,000 points per event. This means that players will receive 1.5 points per $1,000 earned in 2025 Major Championships. The top six players in the Ryder Cup points list will receive automatic selection, and six players will be selected by the captains.
The US team will be captained by Keegan Bradley, who was named on July 8, 2024, while Luke Donald will reprise his role as European team captain from their victorious 2023 campaign.
