Golf is a card game where players try to get the lowest score over nine holes
Golf is a card game that bears similarities to the sport it is named after. The objective of the game is to score as few points as possible, akin to the real-life sport of golf, where the objective is to complete each hole in as few strokes as possible.
In the card game Golf, players are dealt 4 cards each, while 4 cards are placed face-down on the table to form the stockpile and 1 card is placed face-up next to it to start the discard pile. The remaining cards are placed in a face-down stack in the middle of the table, forming the draw pile.
The player to the dealer's left starts the game by drawing either the top card from the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile. If the player has any cards in their hand that match the face-value of the card on the discard pile, they can play those cards and then end their turn, or they can play the card they drew and then end their turn. If the player has no matching cards, they must end their turn by discarding any card from their hand face-up onto the discard pile.
On subsequent turns, players can choose to draw either the top card from the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile. If they draw a card from the discard pile, they must have at least one card in their hand that matches the face-value of the drawn card. They can then play any matching cards from their hand and end their turn, or play the drawn card and end their turn. If a player draws a card from the draw pile, they can play any matching cards from their hand, but they must end their turn by discarding a card from their hand face-up onto the discard pile.
At the end of each hand, players count the total value of the cards remaining in their hand, with face cards counting as 10 points each, Aces counting as 1 point each, and numbered cards counting as their face value. The player with the lowest score after 9 holes (or hands) wins the game.

Sandhills, known as the Home of American Golf, offers a vibrant nightlife scene in addition to its renowned golf courses. From wine bars to dive bars, there is something for everyone seeking after-hours entertainment in the area. The nightlife scene in Sandhills, particularly in Southern Pines and Pinehurst, is thriving and reminiscent of a mini-Nashville, with singer-songwriters performing at various pubs and venues throughout the week.
For those seeking live music, Pinehurst Brewing is a popular choice, followed by Drum and Quill or Dugan's Pub for food and additional live entertainment. The area also boasts a range of acoustic acts with big personalities performing in more intimate settings. If you're looking for a lively night out, bands and dynamic performances are a common occurrence on Friday and Saturday nights, all within walking distance of each other.
Beyond the typical nightlife offerings, Sandhills offers a cultural experience through its arts and performance venues. The Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities in Southern Pines, the Bradshaw Performing Arts Center at Sandhills Community College, and the Sunrise Theatre are all excellent options for those seeking artistic performances and cultural events. During the warmer months, the region also hosts an array of festivals and regularly scheduled events in Moore County towns, such as First Friday in downtown Southern Pines and Live after 5 at the Arboretum in Pinehurst.
Sandhills' reputation as the Home of American Golf is well-deserved, with its golf courses ranked among the most exclusive and natural in the United States. The Sand Hills Golf Club, for example, was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who meticulously crafted the course across a thousand acres of rolling sand hills in central Nebraska. The course is known for its natural bunkering, green complexes, and native areas, as well as its impressive views of the Sand Hills region. With minimal earth-moving and a low budget, the course offers a unique and challenging golf experience.
