The Masters Tournament
The Masters has been played since 1934, when it was known as the "Augusta National Invitation Tournament". The tournament was not played between 1943 and 1945 due to World War II, and the present name "The Masters Tournament" was adopted in 1939. The PGA Championship
The tournament was first held in October 1916 at the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York, with the winner, Jim Barnes, receiving $500 and a diamond-studded gold medal.
