What You'll Learn

Unlocking courses in Mario Golf: Super Rush
Mario Golf: Super Rush has been criticized for only having six courses at launch, which is four less than its predecessor, Mario Golf: World Tour on the Nintendo 3DS. However, unlocking new courses in Mario Golf is relatively simple and can be done in two ways.
Firstly, you can unlock new courses by playing 18 holes at a course you've already unlocked. For example, if you've just launched the game, you'll have access to the Rookie Course and Bonny Greens. To unlock the next course, Ridgerock Lake, you need to play 18 holes at Bonny Greens. This method will likely be the quickest way to unlock all courses.
The second option is to play through the story-driven adventure mode, Golf Adventure. This mode serves as a training mode where you control your own customized Mii and join a country club. You'll take lessons, play introductory minigames, and gradually learn more complex golfing techniques. Every time you move on to a new course in this mode, you'll unlock that course for quick play. However, this method will be more time-intensive than playing 18 holes at each course.
Regardless of which way you decide to go, you'll soon have access to all six courses and be ready to test yourself on the toughest holes Mario Golf: Super Rush has to offer.

Unlocking characters in Mario Golf 64
Mario Golf 64 was released in 1999 on the Nintendo 64 and features a roster of classic Mushroom Kingdom characters and human one-off characters. The game has 14 playable characters, but only four are unlocked at the beginning.
To unlock the other characters, you need to challenge them in the Get Character mode. Defeating them will unlock them for play. Some characters require a different set of criteria to unlock. For example, four additional players can be unlocked, but only by using the Transfer Pak to get game data from Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color.
There is also a cheat code to unlock all 14 characters and most courses. On the title screen, hold Z and R together, then select the clubhouse option with A. You will then be able to enter the code entry option in the next menu. This cheat does not include the four Transfer Pak characters or the Mario's Star course.
There are other smaller cheats and unlockables in Mario Golf 64. For example, every character has three alternate outfits. To access these, press A to select your character, and hold one of the three C buttons (left, down, and right) to change the character's colour.

Mario Golf: Super Rush DLC
Mario Golf: Super Rush has received criticism for its lack of content, especially compared to previous entries in the series. However, Nintendo has released free DLC updates for the game, which add new playable characters, courses, and other features.
The first major update, Version 2.0, was released on August 5, 2021, and introduced Toadette and New Donk City as a free DLC course. This update also added two new club sets for each of the sixteen golfers, which could be purchased for 1,000 and 3,000 Character Points, respectively. The Star Club Set boosts the golfer's power by 30 yards, while the Super Star Club Set boosts power by an additional 30 yards, giving a total boost of 60 yards.
Version 3.0, released on September 23, 2021, added Koopa Troopa and Ninji as playable characters, along with the Blustery Basin and Spiny Palms courses. Koopa Troopa has the ability to make the ball bounce multiple times, while Ninji can use Glide Dash to float over opponents.
The latest major update, Version 4.0, was released on November 23, 2021, and included Wiggler, Shy Guy, and two new courses: Shelltop Sanctuary and All-Star Summit. With these updates, there are now 21 playable characters in Super Rush, five of whom were added through DLC.
To access the free DLC content, players must have the latest software update for Mario Golf: Super Rush installed on their Nintendo Switch systems. The game initially launched with only six courses, but with the DLC updates, the total number of courses has increased to twelve, doubling the amount of content available for players to enjoy.
