Unlocking fishing ability

To unlock the fishing ability in Everybody's Golf, you must first defeat Kato in Rank 4. After defeating Kato, you will unlock the ability to fish and rent out equipment. You will need coins to rent a rod and bait.

To unlock other fishing spots, both at the Home Area and the open courses, you need to raise your fishing level. The max level for fishing is 30. You can increase your fishing level by getting catches, with bigger and rarer fish levelling you up faster.

Renting fishing gear

To rent fishing gear in Everybody's Golf, you must first unlock the ability to fish. To do this, you need to defeat Kato, the second VS character in Rank 4. Once you've defeated Kato, you'll be able to unlock the ability to fish and rent fishing equipment.

When you've unlocked fishing, you can rent fishing gear by finding a person attending a stand by a fishing location. These stands are usually located near bodies of water with fish signs nearby. At these stands, you can rent fishing items such as rods and bait using in-game coins.

The cost of renting fishing gear varies depending on the quality of the equipment. For example, defeating Kato in a revenge VS match unlocks the ability to rent more expensive rods and bait. The best rod and deluxe bait cost 280 coins each.

It's important to note that renting fishing gear is not the only option in Everybody's Golf. As you progress in the game and increase your fishing level, you may unlock or earn better fishing equipment. Additionally, exploring the courses and opening boxes can yield hidden goodies, including fishing gear.

By renting or acquiring better fishing gear, you'll be able to catch different types of fish and improve your fishing skills in Everybody's Golf. Remember to explore all the fishing locations and try out different equipment to maximize your fishing experience in the game.

Casting the rod

Step 1:

Hold your rod at waist level horizontally. Wind in the line until you have around 30-50 cm of line out from the rod tip.

Step 2:

Hold the rod, placing your fingers in between the reel foot. Then, bring the line roller directly under the rod.

Step 3:

Hold the fishing line against the rod using your index finger. Keep holding the line, then open the bail arm.

Step 4:

Check that the area is clear, with no one behind you, then bring the rod back to a 2 o'clock position.

Step 5:

Ensure that the line is not tangled around the rod tip.

Step 6:

Cast the rod by bringing it in a smooth forward movement, releasing the line at a 10 o'clock position.

Additional Tips:

  • Surf rods are the longest type of rod, ranging from 4 to 5 metres, and are designed for casting long distances from the shore.
  • Spinning reels allow you to cast lighter lures and make longer casts.
  • Baitcast rods are ideal for increasing casting distance and overall control.
  • In Everybody's Golf, you can cast your rod by pressing and holding the X button. Hold it down longer to cast further out into the water.

Reeling in the fish

Each area in the game features different types of fish, so be sure to explore all the courses. You can find freshwater fish like rice fish, goldfish, popeyed goldfish, common goldfish, and sweetfish in the Home Area, Eagle Golf G.C., Eagle City G.C., Alpina Forest G.C., Vortex Valley G.C., and Green C.C.

For more challenging catches, try fishing for salmon, which can be found in Imperial Garden and Balata C.C. The Sakhalin taimen is a rare fish that can be caught in the Alpina Forest G.C., Balata C.C., and Akigase Keikoku C.C. It will put up a good fight, but with some patience, it should still be catchable.

If you're after something truly unique, the Koi carp variants (gold, red/white, and tricolor) are rare and can be tricky to reel in. These fish can be found in the Eagle City G.C., Green C.C., and Akigase Keikoku C.C. With some practice and persistence, you'll be able to add these colourful catches to your collection.

Catching all fish

To catch all the fish in Everybody's Golf, you must first unlock the ability to fish. To do this, you need to defeat the old fisherman, Kato, in a round of golf. Kato is the second VS character in Rank 4. Once you've defeated him, you can start fishing and collecting some of the 68 species of fish in the game.

To fish, go to the person attending the stand by a fishing location. Here, you can rent fishing items with coins, such as a rod and bait. Then, head to a body of water with fish signs nearby and cast your rod out with the X button. You can also hold down the button to cast further out into the water. When you feel a pull or the lure sinks, press X at the right moment – ideally when the lure sinks to its deepest point. Then, once you’re notified of the bite, hit X repeatedly to reel in. Different fish can be found in each area, so be sure to explore all of the courses. There are 30 levels of fishing to unlock, and catching all the non-DLC fish in the game will earn you a trophy. The biggest fish in the game is a 130.1-inch Swordfish, but other large fish include a 33.2-inch Koi Carp and a 32.5-inch Sakhalin Taimen.

Some of the easier fish to catch include Rice Fish, Goldfish, Popeyed Goldfish, Common Goldfish, Loach, and Yaritanago. More difficult fish include Koi Carp (Gold), Koi Carp (Red/White), and Koi Carp (Tricolor), which are rare and will put up a fight. The Sakhalin Taimen is also a rare fish and will put up a good fight.
