2 Sessions
There are two sessions per TGL match. The first session, called "Triples," is a nine-hole, 3-on-3, alternate-shot format. The three players on each team will rotate who tees off on a hole and then rotate each shot from there.
The second session, called "Singles," is a rotating head-to-head competition where players go one-on-one for six holes. Each golfer plays two holes during this session, with the competitors rotating after each completed hole.
15 Holes
Each TGL match is played across 15 custom-designed holes in a hybrid of virtual and real-life action. The TGL Competition Staff selects 15 holes from a library of custom-designed holes as the course to be played for that match. These holes are sent to the participating teams at least four days before the match.
Hammer Rule
The Hammer is a unique feature of TGL. It is a game modifier that changes the hole value by adding one point. Each hole normally starts with a value of one point, but if a team chooses to play the Hammer and it is accepted by the opposition, the value of the hole is increased to two points. If another Hammer is played and accepted during the same hole, the value goes up to three points.
Teams start the match with three Hammers each, and they can be used at their discretion, but only one Hammer can be thrown per hole. The Hammer must be thrown before a player addresses the ball. If the opposing team denies a Hammer request, they are forced to concede the hole, giving up the point(s).
