Perry Park, Colorado, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The area was originally inhabited by the Ute, Kiowa, Arapaho and Cheyenne Native American tribes. It was not until the 1858 Pike's Peak Gold Rush near present-day Colorado Springs that American immigrants began to settle in the area.
In the mid-1800s, Perry Park became the site of an early stagecoach stop on the Denver to Colorado Springs route. As Denver grew in the late 1800s, the area became a popular destination, with a series of traveller hotels built near what is now Lake Wauconda. In 1870, John D. Perry, president of the Kansas Pacific Railroad, visited Colorado and purchased the 4,000-acre "Pleasant Park" that would become Perry Park. In the 1870s, the area was settled as a 4,000-acre working ranch by John Perry, who brought the first rail line from Kansas City to Denver.
In 1891, the Red Stone Company engaged Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of New York's Central Park, to plan a resort village with a casino, chapel, library-museum, three lakes, and three separate residential areas. However, most of these plans never materialised, and only a few "cottages" were constructed for wealthy Denver businessmen. One of these cottages, the Manor House, now serves as the clubhouse for the Perry Park Country Club.
