Amateur Players Tour

The Amateur Players Tour (APT) is a golf tour for amateur players from the United States and Canada. The APT provides a professionally-run tournament experience for players of all skill levels. Players compete in golf tournaments at the local level in a season-long points race, with players divided into divisions based on their skill level to provide fun and fair competition.

The APT observes the USGA Rules of Golf governing competition and amateur status. New players fill out a questionnaire to determine their division placement. The APT Competition Committee uses the 12-month low USGA Handicap (if available), other tournament data, and the questionnaire to determine the proper division placement. Players can request relegation after two rounds by submitting an email to the Competition Committee.

The APT offers a range of membership benefits, including the ability to compete in professionally-run golf tournaments, access to top-rated public and private courses, and the opportunity to travel to majors at bucket-list destinations. Membership is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase and renewals extend membership by an additional 365 days from the previous expiration date.

APT members can compete in various events, such as the Folds of Honor Friday Fourball, hosted by APT Phoenix, and the Worldwide Golf Cactus Clash at TPC Scottsdale, a 36-hole Stroke Play event. The APT also hosts National Majors at venues like Big Cedar Lodge, Streamsong Resort, and Chambers Bay. Division winners receive trophies, and top finishers in each division win VISA Gift Cards.

US Amateur Golf Championship

The US Amateur Golf Championship is the oldest USGA championship, established in 1895. The inaugural tournament was held at Newport Country Club, Rhode Island, and was won by Charles B. Macdonald.

The tournament consists of two days of stroke play, after which the leading 64 competitors play a knockout competition to decide the champion. All knockout matches are over 18 holes, except for the final, which is played over 36 holes in morning and afternoon rounds.

The US Amateur has been won by some of the biggest names in golf, including Bobby Jones (five times), Jerome Travers (four times), Jack Nicklaus (twice), Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods (three times consecutively—the only player to win three in a row).

In recent years, the tournament has been dominated by younger players, with winners including Richie Ramsay (2006), Danny Lee (2008), and Byeong-Hun An (2009). The 2023 champion was Nick Dunlap, who defeated Neal Shipley 4 and 3 at Cherry Hills Country Club, Colorado.

The 2025 US Amateur Golf Championship will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California, from August 11-17.
